Pierca previews piercings on your own photo. To do that, one thing has to leave your device — the photo you choose, usually of your face or ear, for the moment it takes to render your preview. This page explains exactly what happens to it, in plain language.
The photo you choose will usually contain your face or your ear, because that is what a piercing preview is placed on. This section explains exactly what happens to that face data.
What is collected. Only the single photo you pick or capture for a given preview, and nothing else. Pierca has no account, so the photo is never attached to a name, an email address, or any profile. Pierca never scans your photo library — you explicitly choose each photo, and camera access is only ever requested when you choose to use the camera.
What it is used for. Solely to render the preview you asked for, and to produce the style suggestions in Style Analyzer. Nothing else. We do not use your photo to train any model, and we do not grant anyone else the right to do so.
No biometric identification. Pierca does not create, store, or compare a faceprint, face template, face embedding, or any other biometric identifier. It performs no face recognition, no identity matching, and no comparison against any database of people. On your device it runs no biometric processing at all — it does not use Apple's Vision face detection, ARKit face tracking, the TrueDepth camera, or any on-device face model.
How it is stored, and for how long. It is not stored, and the retention period is zero. When you tap generate, the photo is transmitted over HTTPS to Pierca's rendering service, held in memory only for the seconds the render takes, and then discarded. Our rendering service is stateless: it has no database, writes no photo to disk, keeps no user records, and never writes image data to its logs. Nothing survives the request, and nothing survives a restart.
Who else sees it. One processor: fal.ai, which runs the AI models that compose the preview. The photo is sent inside the request itself rather than uploaded to any file store, and every request instructs fal.ai not to retain the request payload, so the photo is not kept there either. For Style Analyzer, fal.ai routes the photo to a vision model (Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite) that returns only text — three suggested piercing styles and a short reason for each. fal.ai is based in the United States and states that it and its service providers process and store information on servers in the United States and other countries; you can review their practices at fal.ai/privacy. No one else receives your photo — it is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never disclosed to any other third party.
Deleting it. There is nothing to delete on our side, because nothing was kept. The generated looks you choose to keep are stored only on your device (see section 3) and are removed when you delete the app.
Saved looks, generated previews you keep, style and material choices, quiz answers, and settings are stored only on your device using Apple's on-device storage. None of it is uploaded, synced, or visible to anyone but you.
Pierca does not include any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We don't measure how you use the app, and we don't show ads.
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store (StoreKit) — Apple handles your payment details directly; we never see them. Purchase receipt validation may be processed by RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app-installation identifier and purchase/transaction information — no name, email, or other personal identity. Healing reminders are scheduled locally on your device using Apple's notification framework. There is no push notification server, and no notification content ever leaves your device.
Pierca is a cosmetic preview tool. Pain and healing information shown in the app reflects typical ranges reported by piercers and is for orientation only — it is not medical advice. For anything health-related, talk to a professional piercer or a doctor.
Because your library lives on your device, deleting the app deletes your saved looks and settings. There is nothing to delete on our side — the rendering server keeps no copies. To manage or cancel your subscription, use your Apple ID subscription settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
Pierca is not directed to children, does not collect personal information, and does not knowingly interact with children under 13.
If Pierca's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change accordingly.
